Waveshed by Joe Magee
Watershed was 25 in 2007
Watershed first opened its doors on Monday 7th June 1982 with a belief in ideas, culture, the moving image and Bristol. One of the highlights of Watershed’s opening programme was a screening of Abel Gance's silent classic Napoleon at the Hippodrome and we're delighted to be continuing this honourable tradition of presenting silent cinema with a specially commissioned new score to G W Pabst's Pandoras's Box. In partnership with Bristol Silents the gala screening took place at Colston Hall on Saturday 15 September with a brand new score by composer Paul Lewis performed by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.
To help us mark this anniversary year we have commissioned the above special birthday image which has been created by Bristol-based artist and filmmaker Joe Magee www.periphery.co.uk

This special 25 section of the site reflects on where Watershed started and begins to take a look at where it's heading, examining how the world has changed and exploring what the role is for the next stage of the journey.
