Films from 2004

We picked Gus Van Sant’s Elephant as our Decalogue 2004 film. Do you agree or disagree? Here are some of the year’s highlights to jog your memory:…

Tropical Malady / Caché / The Intruder / Before Sunset / Crash / Sideways / Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind / Million Dollar Baby / The Holy Girl / Nobody Knows / Collateral / My Summer of Love / House of Flying Daggers / Shaun of the Dead / Downfall / Team America: World Police

  1. Daniel says:

Honesty forces me to confess straight away that I have not managed to watch any of Apichatpong Weerasetakul (AP)’s films. Human frailty pushes me to beg the Decalogue jury to take that fact into account in their 2004’s choice. So yes, I pick Tropical Malady (TM) for 2004’s decalogue selection.

Some homework I did may advance my case. Tropical Malady ranked 1st in Cahiers du Cinéma’s 2004 top ten list and 3rd in their top-of-the-decade list. In Film Comment’s top-of-the-decade list it ranked 8th.
