Electric December Inspiration Day was a one-day film workshop for schools led by Writer / Director Conor McCormack. The workshop was designed to give participating schools the opportunity to spend the day making a short film on a low budget, and to learn more about Electric December, Watershed’s annual online advent calendar.

In the workshop, students from Fairfield High School and City Academy Bristol were challenged to produce a film containing no more than 4 shots. Accompanied by a teacher, both teams were given the same script to work from and a set genre to work within (Horror, Western, Noir etc.) After picking up a camera and few props, the teams each spent one hour shooting their films, and one hour editing. The completed films were then shown in a special screening in one of Watershed’s cinemas.

Fairfield Highschool produced Smoke and Diamonds, a short in a film noir style, and City Academy Bristol produced the science fiction-themed Eyes of Fury.

Conor McCormack is a writer and director who was Bifa-nominated for his short ‘Christmas with Dad’, and won a place in the final 12 projects in the iFeatures scheme.

Electric December is Watershed’s annual online advent calendar, which showcases a selection of shorts by new talent from across Europe. The deadline to submit a film for Electric Decemeber 2011 is Friday 14 October 2011

Electric December is a Watershed project with support from Bristol City Council as part of Fresh Flix 2011
