This collection contains a selection of industry talks and Q&A's from directors, actors, filmmakers, and industry professionals that were recorded as part of the Bristol Encounters International Film Festival. The festival is the UK’s longest running competitive short film and animation festival. As one of the world’s best-known showcases and meeting points for emerging talent from the UK, Europe and across the globe, Encounters Bristol International Film Festival is now the leading UK gateway to the world’s most prestigious short film and animation awards.
The festival began life at Watershed Media Centre in 1995 as Brief Encounters - originally envisioned as a ‘one-off' event, to mark the centenary of cinema. It proved so popular that it became an annual attraction - expanding year on year to eventually include a new strand, Animated Encounters, which is dedicated to showcasing short animated films.
Encounters have collaborated with Watershed Media Centre throughout the festival’s 17 years. Both festival and venue seek to promote the short form as a means to develop and progress the next generation of filmmakers and animators, and to continue to be a leading cultural event in the vibrant city of Bristol.
Watershed presents DepicT!, the competition for ninety second short films which has been successfully running for over 10 years, as part of Encounters. Encounters and Watershed also jointly present Fresh Flix, which seeks to inspire and celebrate young peoples creativity through specially programmed events and workshops.
