Each year, Watershed's Head of Programming, Mark Cosgrove, attends a number of film festivals in order to see new films to bring back to Watershed. The International Film Festival Berlin takes place annually, and is one of the most prestigious events of the film year. This collection contains pre-festival interviews and live reports, which Mark delivers via Twitter direct from the festival every year, sharing his thoughts and opinions on the latest films and industry buzz.

The International Film Festival Berlin, also called the ‘Berlinale’, is one of the largest publicly attended events in the film world. Founded in 1951, the 2011 festival is the 61st instalment of this annual event, which shows around 400 films each year. The majority of these are European premieres, and vary in genre, length and format.

Each year, Watershed's Head of Programme, Mark Cosgrove attends the festival to watch films up to 18 months ahead of them being available in the cinema, to catch up with colleagues from across Europe and to forge partnerships for the year ahead. Festivals are essential to a film programmers work, and each year, films that have been screened or premiered at festivals make their way back to Watershed.
