Asif Kapadia’s documentary, Senna, has won Best Documentary, and Editing awards at the 2012 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Film Awards. Director Asif Kapadia and writer/executive producer Manish Pandey were at Watershed last year discussing the film, and you can watch the event here on DShed.

DepicT! challenges filmmakers the world over to make a film lasting just 90 seconds or under, and is now open for entries. Prizes up for grabs include a £1500 cash prize, UK distribution of the winning film, and tailored 6-month package of industry support including BAFTA mentoring!

The Film Policy Review is a major report conducted by the DCMS which examines the British film industry. Watershed's Head of Programme, Mark Cosgrove, has published a manifesto for the UK independent cultural cinema sector, and will be tweeting his thoughts today live from the government film policy review launch.

DepicT! '11 winning film Wake continues to inspire accolades, and is now one of six winning films in Current TV's (a cable television network and media company led by Al Gore) Current Short Cuts competition. Huge congratulations to Nick Fogg, and all involved with the film!

Mark Cosgrove, Watershed's Head of Programme, is one of four canditates running to sit on the Board of Governers at the BFI. You can view the election booklet containing Mark's and the other three candidates' applications. Members of the NFT and Sight & Sound subscribers can cast their vote by internet or telephone by Tue 20 Dec.

The DepicT! winners were announced on 19th Nov following the showcase event. Nick Fogg won the main award and £1500 prize for her documentary Wake, the British Special Mention Award was picked up by Michelle Arbon for Above as Below, and the Shooting People DepicT! Audience Award went to Tim Bassford for The Launderette. Congratulations to all the shortlisted filmmakers!

The new score for The Passion of Joan of Arc continues to enjoy success in its latest tour, and has been praised by The New York Times for its 'neo-Romantic touches and Glassian chordal undulations', which provide an 'affecting accompaniment to Dreyer’s disturbing film'.
