"Hilarious...an impressive first feature debut...you can almost smell the vinegar.. There isn't a single wasted frame in this stinging comedy about tolerance.." James Christopher, The Times

These comments were extracted from positive reviews of the film and used in the promotion.

  1. Why is it important for the distributor that the film is well reviewed.
  2. If a film gets a bad review do you think it will fail at the box office? Can you find any examples to back up your point of view?
  3. How important is a good review to you in deciding what film to see?

Occasionally films are so bad, like The Avengers (1999), that the distributors do not show it to the press in advance of the opening. In this way the bad reviews are delayed a week but everyone knows the film is a turkey by then.
