The quality of information and the way it is presented are both important if any site is to be used effectively by its intended audience.

This section asks you to evaluate selected sites. The discussion about the quality of web sites can be structured by moving from general impressions to more particular aspects of a site.

These are three web sites you will evaluate.

  1. The Internet Movie Database
    http://www.imdb.com

  2. The Government Information Page on Citizenship
    http://www.dfes.gov.uk/a-z/CITIZENSHIP_EDUCATION_ba.html

  3. The Media Channel
    http://www.mediachannel.org/

You can explore the sites from this page. They also appear in the side menu bar 'Sites to Evaulate' throughout this entire section.

Click their links to open a new window and view them.

You don't have to work on these sites in the order they are listed but you should evaluate all three.

Below are some of the criteria by which you can begin to discuss quality. Work through all of these and answer the questions for each one of the sites.

Click on each in turn in order to work through your evaluation.
