[IT2.3, IT3.3]

You are now ready to summarise your findings and opinions by writing reports on the three sites and posting them onto this site.

Remember you can always get to the three sites you are writing about by clicking in the 'Sites to Evaluate' in the left hand menu.

What is a Report?

  • A report is different from an essay. An essay presents information organised around a structured argument; a report presents findings and summarises issues, which the reader might then use in an argument.
  • A report need not be long. It uses headings, which lay out the main ground of the subject. The object of your report here is to present the discussions around each element of the chosen site for assessment. If you have followed instructions properly a lot of this will be in the Discussion Boards.
  • The Report title will be the Name of the Site. The second line will give your name (individual and/or Institution) and date. We then suggest you use the following headings for your report:

Category of site

  • A few paragraphs will include the variety of opinions and/or disagreements and a way of resolving these issues, such as by offering a main category and sub-categories under which the site may be listed.

First Impressions

  • This will necessarily be a description, followed by a summary of opinions about associations and responses people had to the site. If you wish, you could use sub-headings here such as: Layout, Text, Colours and Images.

Navigation

  • Write a few paragraphs to summarise what people have said in the Discussion Boards about finding their way through the site.

Audience Address

  • Use sub-headings like ‘Language’ and ‘Tone’ to help you to summarise what people have posted in the Discussion Boards here.
