Register: Film Hub South West - Festivals Consultation
Thursday 21 September, Watershed Bristol as part of Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival
1pm-2pm: Networking Lunch
2pm-4pm: Consultation Session
We are keen to hear from South West and Hampshire based film festivals to get to know more about your expertise and to help shape Film Hub South West’s approach to supporting festivals over the next four years. Join in this two-hour session at Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival to discuss support for festivals over the next four years through Film Hub South West. This is primarily aimed at South West and Hampshire based film festivals but if you feel you have relevant expertise and/or experience that is relevant, please do get in touch.
The session takes place at Watershed and will be facilitated by Liz Harkman, currently Executive Director for Bristol Festivals, who has vast experience of the film festival landscape in the South West and across the UK.
Earlier this year, the British Film Institute invited applications from organisations to take on the Film Hub Lead role for regions and nations as part of the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN) for the period 2018 - 22, responding to priorities and criteria outlined in BFI2022. This includes greater responsibility around film festivals, community cinemas and talent development. Building on our successful leadership of Film Hub South West & West Midlands, Watershed is leading on a bid for the period 2018-2022 for the South West area, which now includes Hampshire, previously part of Film Hub South East as as illustrated on this map.
If you can’t make the session but want to be involved, we encourage you to get in touch with us so we can be as responsive as possible to the region’s context and your needs, working collectively towards a thriving cultural film exhibition sector, one that nurtures future generations of cinema goers and remains in tune with new ways of making and experiencing film and moving image.
For those of you that are interested meeting other UK and European festivals, note there are also limited places for a morning session on Thursday 21 September (10am - 12.30pm) organised with Media Desk UK and the BFI to discuss ways of collaborating with each other beyond traditional programme exchanges and opportunities for European funding.
If you can’t make the Festivals session, please feel free to get in touch with Film Hub Producer Maddy Probst (email: firstname.lastname@example.org or tel: 0117 9275120) and/or feel free join in our forthcoming Film Hub South West consultation sessioon Wed 4 Oct 2017 - 12pm - 3pm at Harbour Lights Picture House in Southhampton. RSVP to: email@example.com.
