So now the Media Sandbox has had its official end we wanted to give you a snapshot of some of the data we’ve mapped – specifically the map overlay in the centre of Bristol.

Different colour polygons represent different surface types: serene turquoise indicating a smooth ride, yellow notifying users of an uneven area of ground, red warning of the dreaded cobbles and black for the impossible task of stairs. You may be able to see the inspiration we’ve taken from ski slopes, as discussed previously!

What I have found most striking about this view is just how little turquoise there is in central Bristol, it just looks like a sea of yellow.

Many thanks once again go to Media Sandbox, without which this would not have got off the ground. This is just the beginning for Hills Are Evil – we’ll soon be updating the website with more user-created content, so keep a eye out for future developments. Until then, keep hating those evil hills!
