Heritage Sandbox
Heritage Sandbox, REACT's first funding call, will fund six projects collaborations between arts & humanities researchers and creative economy companies.
The Pervasive Media Studio
The Pervasive Media Studio is a creative technologies collaboration between Watershed, University of West of England and University of Bristol. Based in the heart of Bristol, we bring together creators from diverse backgrounds to research and produce new experiences.
Opened in February 2008, the Pervasive Media Studio mixes commercial and cultural projects with a focus on trying out new ideas. Areas of work include gaming, projections, location-based media, digital displays and new forms of performance. It has a great workspace and is built on an ethos of open innovation and sharing knowledge.
Pervasive Media is any experience that uses sensors and/or mobile/wireless networks to bring you content (film, music, images, a game…) that’s sensitive to your situation – where you are, how you feel, or who you are with. With computers and phones getting smaller, more powerful and staying connected to the Internet, there are more opportunities than ever for pervasive media to deliver new types of experiences into the fabric of everyday life. From heritage tours to mobile games played in the city, with the use of sensors like GPS to collect context-rich information (such as location), it delivers experiences that respond to you and your situation.
The Pervasive Media Studio is managed by iShed and based in the Watershed building. Visit The Pervasive Media Studio website.
