Position: Events Waiting Staff: Casual
Grade: 6 (£6.13 per hour)
Responsible to: Events Manager, Deputy Events Manager, Events Assistant
Purpose of job:
To work in the Events Department and provide an effective catering service addressing the needs of conference clients and delegates in the Event areas.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing rooms for Events and functions.
- Prepare food and beverage service stations.
- Undertake simple food preparation tasks, such as plating food.
- Be aware of and undertake clearing and cleaning requirements in the Events areas and kitchen before, during and after events.
- Maintain health, safety and hygiene standards within all Events areas.
- Identify stock levels of table linen, tea, coffee, biscuits, sugar and napkins and inform supervisor if stocks are low.
- Maintain high levels of customer care at all times ensuring the highest possible standards in presentation and quality of food and beverages served.
- Inform Events supervisors immediately of any changes in arrangements that a conference client may have discussed or requested.
- Deliver good customer service by being flexible in accommodating changes in arrangements requested by clients.
- Carry out any other duties which can be reasonably expected of you in the effective running of the Events provision
Key Performance Indicators:
- Events and functions are prepared for appropriately in all areas including Events areas, service areas and food preparation.
- Event areas are tidy before, during and after events, and attention has been paid to Health, Safety and hygiene.
- Events supervisors are informed of stock needs and changes in requirements.
- Communication is effective throughout the department and others within the building.
- The working environment adheres to Health, Safety and hygiene standards at all times.
Person Specification:
Essential:- Previous experience in catering delivery.
- General awareness of the importance of punctuality and reliability.
- Able to maintain an approachable and confident manner.
- Flexibility towards working hours.
- Previous experience in a customer facing role.
Terms and Conditions:
- Shifts are devised on a monthly basis and are dependent on levels of business. Business is seasonal, with spring and autumn traditionally being the busiest times of the year.
- Pay: £6.13 per hour.
- Employees are expected to wear appropriate clothing to their post.
- Some meals are provided whilst on duty.
- A taxi will be provided to take you home if your shift finishes after 10.30pm and you live within the city limits.
- Thirteen week probationary period.
