To expect a ‘turned on’ child of the electric age to respond to the old education modes is rather like expecting an eagle to swim. It’s simply not within his environment, and therefore incomprehensible.

Picnic in Space

Dir: Bruce Bacon 1967 28mins

Picnic in Space is a rare jewel of a film in which McLuhan banters with his long time cohort Harley Parker. The film sees McLuhan expounding on ‘space’ and its properties, while lying in a field somewhere in Canada. Amusing, classic and a period piece of McLuhan ephemera.
