Watershed celebrates 30 years of media, music and magic on Thu 7 June
Tue 22 May, 2012

Watershed is celebrating its 30th Birthday on Thu 7 June. The world was a very different place 30 years ago. No mobile phones or internet. With an uncanny sense of foresight, Watershed opened in 1982, the only year in history that Time Magazine’s Person of The Year was a computer.

Electric December goes live this week
Posted: Mon 28 Nov, 2011Electric December returns this Thursday, ready to make December just that little bit more joyous, with an outstanding online showcase of 24 short films from across Europe - one for each day of advent at electricdecember.org.Watch the trailer below to get a glimpse of the great work that's waiting for you to watch from 1 Dec.
Teenage BTEC Media students from Bristol schools have been helping to shape this year's countdown calendar. A talented bunch from Fairfield High and Redland Green plus Henbury and Katharine Lady Berkeley have been involved in designing the Electric December website, selecting the short films and they will be at Watershed to host the lavish launch party this Thu 1 Dec. The awards for this year will be annouced at the launch, so check back to see who's won what.
Fairfield High School's Media Studies teacher, Andy Gove, says:
“The students have really been inspired by working with Watershed – it’s incredible what can be achieved when working in partnership with media professionals.”
Check out Electric December where you will be able to watch all of this year's fantastic films from Thu 1 Dec, and take a look at over a decade's worth of past Electric December contributions. You will also be able to watch some of the Electric December 11 films on a BBC Big Screen near you.
Electric December is a Watershed project with support from Bristol City Council as part of Fresh Flix 2011 - presented by Encounters International Film Festival and Watershed.
