There has been a flurry of activity in the Studio this week, as we have been hosting over 20 young online trenders as part of the Bristol Youth Links Talent Lab, as well as getting ready for next week’s huge No Boundaries conference. On top of this, the Studio turned 6 last Friday, and so we celebrated with speeches, jelly and ice cream and marshmallow Tetris. Read on to find out more...

Watershed have been commissioned by Bristol Youth Links to create an online youth led platform. Engagement Project Producers, Hannah H and Vanessa have been inviting young online trenders from all over the city into the Studio. They have been in the Studio over half-term, creating online content and discussing how they use, or would like to use online platforms in order to engage with each other and find out what’s on in the city. Bristol Talent lab brought over 20 young people together, for an intense week-long workshop with youth oriented creative media enterprise Latimer Group, which culminated in one of our lunchtime talks. They now have much more of an idea of how to proceed with the Bristol Youthlinks Project as a whole. Have a look at the running commentary of the week on the Bristol Talent Lab project page and #bristoltalentlab.

Last Friday, the Studio reached the ripe old age of 6. In order to celebrate, we invited residents and Watershed staff to join us for PM Studio logo jelly, ice cream and cake. We had speeches, toasts and sang happy birthday, and in true Studio style, we also used a Makey Makey to rig up marshmallows as arrow key controllers for a game of Tetris.

Everyone is looking forward to the No Boundaries conference, half of which will be taking place in Watershed (the other half in York simultaneously). The conference will be a symposium on the role of arts and culture, in a time when the cultural map is being re-drawn by new technologies, new models of funding and new local, national and global thinking. On the Tuesday night, Fred Deakin, formerly of Lemon Jelly, has curated a No Boundaries Superstar DJ party, which will have 8 djs live streamed between Bristol and York, battling it out for the title of Superstar DJ, ending in a set by Fred Deakin. Tickets for the conference are sold out, but the party is open to the public. Do come along, as it looks to be a brilliant evening. Book your tickets here.

Splash and Ripple are testing the script for their real world adventure set in Bodium Castle in East Sussex, which will be launching later this year. Over the last few weeks they have been working with actors, recording their script, and they need volunteers to listen through it. They are planning to do a test run this Wednesday afternoon in the Studio, so get in touch if you’d like to come in to help.
