Introducing VRGo: the tilting and twisting gaming chair that allows you to navigate virtual reality by moving your body.

Studio resident Joe Ryan, founder of VRGo is poised to kick off a kickstarter campaign for £20k tonight with a bit of a do here at the Studio.

VRGo are today launching a kickstarter campaign for one of the world’s first hands free, wireless gaming chairs designed specifically to enable you to navigate the immersive delights of virtual reality. Navigate through virtual worlds in an intuitive, hands free way, using you movement of your body on the chair as you tilt and twist to get around.

With building excitement around the Oculus Rift headset, coming to market this Spring, and big players such as HTC, Samsung and Sony rushing to get their own head mounted displays in the hands of consumers, the race is on to develop intuitive, responsive and effortless controllers and peripherals that allow you to navigate and interact in virtual reality in your own home.

As you lean from side to side and swivel 360 degrees on the lightweight VRGo chair, your avatar in Virtual Reality moves exactly as you do, removing the need for a joystick, game controller or keyboard. Lean forward, your character will walk forwards. It is as simple and intuitive as that.

Joe tells us: “To achieve true presence, a real feeling of total immersion, the user needs to be able to move naturally, as they would in reality. Existing attempts to solve this are often clunky, unresponsive, expensive and simply not practical for the average home, until now. VRGO’s tilt based movement system allows users to stay engaged longer while still feeling present within VR.”
