Bolton Oct '98 - Jan'99
Much installation art is an attempt to turn the clinical gallery environment inside out, to turn the viewer's focus towards the more excitingly varied mess of life as it goes on outside the gallery walls. Michael Pinsky has constructed a three-metre-high room of screens onto which is projected delayed video film of events taking place inside and outside the building. The projections gradually gather speed and head towards an almost intoxicating degree of spatial disorientation. A rare chance (outside clubland) to see how adventurous contemporary art might transform one's view of even dear downtown Bolton.
