WATERSHED AND UWE FINE ARTS

Transparent Room Project Briefing

Transparent Room by Michael Pinsky is a projected installation, using multiple screens and viewpoints to give the viewer the feeling of being both inside and outside, involved in external events while standing in the gallery space. The 'room' is made up of these screens, shown either as a cube or as an exploded cube.

The project will involve students working with Michael to explore his ideas and working methods, consider the implications of exhibiting in a multi-screen environment and produce a piece of their own work for showing in this installation.

WATERSHED AND LOCAL SCHOOLS
Transparent Room Education Programme

Working with local secondary schools, Watershed is providing an educational programme and resource pack based around the Transparent Room Installation. The exhibition has great potential for discovering aspects of perception, from visual experience to spacial awareness and also raises issues around technical production.

Students will be able to examine how the show was made and investigate the effects of the visual and sound elements of the piece.
