Kaza-Hana (15) S

Veteran filmmaker Somai spins this melodramatic road movie about two lost souls who set out together on a journey through Hokkaido. Yuriko, a pink-salon hostess mourning her dead husband, and Renji, an elite bureaucrat who has long since given up caring for his career, opting instead to slump headlong into oblivion, are brought together by a chance encounter. They decide to travel together to Yuriko’s home island, but as their voyage takes an unexpected turn towards death, each learns from the other what makes life worth living.
