This Fighting Spirit (12A) S

Tiny Ghanaian shanty town Bukom is a factory for the toughest boxers in the world, and this incredible film follows two men and a woman as they battle their way to the rings of Europe and America to fight for the biggest prizes in the business. Witnessing their triumphs and defeats in and out of the ring, this is a record of modern Africans' ambitions as they fight for respect and reward, for their tribe and their home. Screening with Combat de Boxe (1927), a short avant-garde film which turns a boxing match into a metaphor for cinema itself.
