LLGFF: Ghosted (18) S
Dir: Monika Treut
Cast: Inga Busch, Huan-Ru Ke, Ting-Ting Hu 89 mins, 2009, Germany/Taiwan, Subtitled
Please note: this is an old screening, first shown in July 2009
This mysterious love story set in Hamburg and the beautifully depicted Taipei follows German artist Sophie as she comes to terms with her Taiwanese lover Ai-Ling’s murder. Travelling to Taipei to exhibit a video installation dedicated to Ai-Ling, Sophie meets the ambitious and seductive journalist Mei-Li who turns out to be not all that she seems. Intimately shot with excellent use of location shooting in the two countries, Treut’s return to narrative after a decade in documentary work is a moving love story which questions and explores the differences between East and West.
