LLGFF: Baby Love (18) S
Dir: Vincent Garenq
Cast: Lambert Wilson, Pascal Elbe 98 mins, 2008, France, Subtitled
Please note: this is an old screening, first shown in July 2009
Comfortable as one half of a well-off and otherwise happy Parisian gay couple, Manu (Lambert Wilson) jeopardises his relationship with Philippe (Pascal Elbe) as he realises fatherhood is his priority and sets out to adopt a child. To complicate matters, gay adoption is illegal in France, but finding a suitable surrogate proves harder than anticipated. When he meets a young Argentinean woman in need of a visa it seems he has found his perfect match. Nothing is simple, but this comedy of errors gives a brilliantly entertaining insight into the joys and pitfalls of gay parenting.
