LLGFF: To Each Her Own (18)
Dir: Heather Tobin
Cast: Tracy Rae, Kristen Dealy 109 mins, 2008, Canada
Please note: this is an old screening, first shown in July 2009
This assured debut by talented all-rounder Tobin (she scripted, produced, shot and edited the film) follows a young woman’s emotional rollercoaster as she struggles with deeply buried feelings. Growing up with a mother who believes homosexuality is a sin, Jess married her high school sweetheart fresh after graduation. Yet she’s unable to keep away from the charming, cynical, out and proud lesbian Casey, and the two women embark on an affair. Jess finds herself forced to choose between stability, her family and all that she knows and the adventure of true love.
