Activists and Revolutionaries: An Inconvenient Truth (U)
Dir: Davis Guggenheim
Cast: Al Gore 97 mins, 2005, USA
Please note: this is an old screening, first shown in Nov 2009
This riveting activist documentary charts former presidential candidate Al Gore’s efforts to raise the public’s awareness of climate change and global warming. Far from a tedious slice of moralising, the film is profound, entertaining and convincing story telling. Based on over 1000 environmental lectures which Gore has given around the world since 2000, it showcases the man’s wit, humour and intellect. Gore pleads that we can no longer afford to view global warming as a political issue – it is the biggest moral challenge facing civilisation and one he is making into a personal worldwide crusade.
