Food, Inc. (PG)
Dir: Robert Kenner
94 mins, 2008, USA
Please note: this is an old screening, first shown in Feb 2010
A stomach-churning expose on America's food industry, an industry controlled not by farmers but by a handful of corporations that often put profit before health, the livelihood of farmers, the safety of workers and the environment. Extending the work of nutritionists, journalists and activists such as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma), it brings to to light some shocking truths on what people eat, how it's produced, and where to go from here. Cheap corn is fed to cows who haven't evolved to eat it, new strains of E. coli are being found in spinach and lettuce, the egg-to-death life of a chicken is just six weeks.. this is tough watching - scarier than any horror film you'll see - but essentially viewing. You are, truly, what you eat.
Double Points for all Loyalty Card holders on Food, Inc. screenings!

We're mad about music and film. So much so we've created a brand new festival dedicated to this most enduring of relationships, and it all kicks off this weekend with a special focus on the music of the maestro himself: Ennio Morricone.
