Cinékids: Azur and Asmar + Animation Workshop (U)
Dir: Michel Ocelot
Cast: Cyril Mourali, Karim M'Riba 99 mins, 2008, France
Please note: this is an old screening, first shown in Feb 2010
Set in Maghreb - a mythical, colourful world of princesses, scarlet lions, thieves and bandits - this award-winning feature from French animation master Ocelot (Kirikou and the Sorceress) is a beguiling tale of sibling rivalry, coming of age and the acceptance of others. Follow the lives of Azur and Asmar, two friends - one European, the other Arabian - as they grow up as brothers. Their adventure takes them on an epic journey of self-discovery as they battle villains, and their own differences, along their way. After the screening join Bristol based animator George Sander Jackson who will lead a 2D animation workshop!
Cinékids is for children between 8 and 12 years old. Fee: £2.00 per child/£3.50 adults (must be accompanied by a child).

Roman Polanski's latest sees two couples try to talk through a minor incident amicably - with quite the opposite result! A hysterically funny descent into some very, very enjoyable bad behaviour.
