David Peat: A Flickering Reality
Please note: this is an old event from March 2010
Our perceptions of reality have undergone radical changes over the years. Where better to experience this than when 'dreaming in the dark' in the cinema? From quantum theory to chaos theory, from Freud and Jung to artificial intelligence, from manipulated memories to parallel universes, films have become a reflection and an expression of how our world and ourselves are changing. David Peat will explore the connections between film and reality through a number of key films. David Peat is a theoretical physicist and author of over twenty books. Peat is director of the Pari Center for New Learning in Tuscany, Italy and a member of the International Futures Forum.
This event will be hosted by Julian Baggini, co-founder and editor of The Philosophers' Magazine.
