Lonely and craving kindness, she feigns piousness merely so she can go on church trips with much needed company. When her group make a pilgrimage to Lourdes Christine wakes one morning seemingly cured by a miracle that provokes both envy and wonder: what is a miracle exactly? Why Christine and not me?
