Alice in Wonderland (PG)
Dir: Tim Burton
Cast: Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter 108 mins, 2010, USA
Please note: this was screened in April 2010
19-year-old Alice takes another tumble down the rabbit hole to the magical world she has faint memories of visiting as a young girl, she reunites with her friends the White Rabbit, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the Cheshire Cat and, of course, the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp). Things get curiouser and curiouser as Alice finds her true destiny and plots to end the evil Red Queen's (Helena Bonham Carter) reign of terror. Tim Burton's visual riot of adventure and fantasy is a superb reimagining of Lewis Carroll's classic story.
Everyone is welcome to attend this screening. Fee: £3.50
Bring kids aged 8-12 to the Cinékids Alice in Wonderland Workshop on Sat 17 April at 13:00hrs to make some noise with percussion maestro Tony Orrell (aka the Birdman of Alkijazz) and create a live score for the earliest film version of Alice from way back in 1903!
If you're a budding musician aged 18-25 come to the What's the Score? Workshop on Sat 10 April at 14:00hrs to create a score for the same 1903 film with the Birdman.
