St Pauls Carnival Fringe Season: Fair Play + intro (CTBA)
Dir: Connie Field
86 mins, 2010, South Africa
Please note: this is an old screening, first shown in July 2010
In 1995, a newly democratic South Africa rallied behind its rugby team for the first time since the end of apartheid, sharing the victory when the Springboks became unlikely World Cup champions. This new documentary by acclaimed filmmaker Connie Field (Have You Heard From Johannesburg?), shows how sports boycotts helped bring one of the world's most brutally repressive systems to its knees.
Presented with ACTSA and Afrika Eye with an intro by author David Goldblatt.
