Festival of Ideas: The Alternative Iraq Enquiry (18)
Dir: David Lawley-Wakelin 45 mins, 2010, UK Please note: this was screened in Jan 2011
Borne from David Lawley-Wakelin, the freelance documentary filmmaker who was so incensed by the Iraq war that he made the bold statement from the audience of Question Time suggesting whether Tony Blair was a liar prepared to kill in the name of oil. On this premise, Lawley-Wakelin travels to Iraq to ask its citizens and military personnel whether they agreed with him. Questioning the motives on both sides of the Atlantic: who is responsible for the atrocities of war?
Followed by a discussion with Director David Lawley-Wakelin and other guests. Presented by Festival of Ideas and Watershed. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances former MP Clare Short cannot attend this event as previously advertised.
Fee: £7.20/ £5.60 concessions.

Back by popular demand! This is the powerful story of Jasmine (Cate Blanchett, surely a front runner for an Oscar®), a New York socialite whose hifalutin life expectations come crashing down.
Alexander Payne's (The Descendants) latest is a sharp, subtle and brilliantly-observed dark comedy about America's classic mid-West culture beautifully shot in black and white.
