Werner Herzog Sunday Brunches: Nosferatu (15) S

Herzog put his idiosyncratic stamp on this remake of FW Murnau's 1922 silent horror classic. Klaus Kinski is the famous Count, all bald head, sunken eyes, talon-like nails and visible, snaggly fangs, constantly decaying as time passes. When he develops a bloodthirsty lust for Jonathan Harker's (Bruno Ganz) wife Lucy (Isabelle Adjani), the pair must race to see who can get to her first - Dracula all the while escorted by thousands of rats (white rats that Herzog famously had painted grey). Magnificently filmed and relentlessly menacing, Herzog's version is both reverential and typically unique.

Please note: this is a old season with no further events to see

We are delighted to screen three new digital prints of his classics made in partnership with his acting nemesis Klaus Kinski as well as The Bad Lieutenant wherein Nicolas Cage makes a good job of emulating a Kinski-esque crazed performance!
