Werner Herzog Sunday Brunches: Aguirre, Wrath of God (PG)
Dir: Werner Herzog
Cast: Klaus Kinski, Ruy Guerra, Helena Rojo 94 mins, 1972, West Germany
Please note: this was screened in Jan 2012
Klaus Kinski was on full lunatic form as Aguirre, the leader of an expedition of sixteenth century conquistadors on an obsessive quest to find El Dorado, the fabled lost city of gold. As he takes them ever further into unchartered, hostile Indian land the group are picked off one by one in a delirious journey into hell. Its nightmare shoot, where the cast and crew endured very real dangers and Kinski scaled the heights of loopy eccentricity, has passed into cinematic legend. A powerful vision of madness, greed, ambition - and the destructive force of nature.
Fee: £4.60 full / £3.60 concessions and get £1.00 off all meal orders £6.95 or over in the Café/Bar on the same day with your ticket. See our full range of menus here.

Please note: this is a old season with no further events to see
We are delighted to screen three new digital prints of his classics made in partnership with his acting nemesis Klaus Kinski as well as The Bad Lieutenant wherein Nicolas Cage makes a good job of emulating a Kinski-esque crazed performance!
