NBCQ: Patience (After Sebald) + Director's Q&A (12A)
Dir: Grant Gee
90 mins, 2012, UK
Please note: this was screened in Feb 2012
A richly textured, beautifully photographed film essay on landscape, art, history, life and loss from acclaimed documentarian Gee (Joy Division, Meeting People Is Easy), Patience takes a look at the work and influence of German writer WG Sebald (1944-2001) via a walk through East Anglia tracking his most famous book, The Rings of Saturn. Featuring contributions from major writers, artist and filmmakers (Tacita Dean, Iain Sinclair and Robert Macfarlane among others), it is a fitting eulogy for a remarkable man.
Followed by a Q&A with director Grant Gee.
Presented as part of New British Cinema Quarterly in partnership with Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival.
Tales of the Night 3D
