A hotly anticipated profile of musician, screenwriter and novelist Nick Cave's first 20,000 days on earth, which has has been wowing audiences since its premiere in Berlin. A fascinating, illuminating exploration of the musician's process, this British film skilfully transcends its already formidable polymath subject, appealing to anyone with a curiosity about creativity. With intimate access to the man himself, we tour through Cave's professional and personal life with rare wit and candour meeting band-mates, family, collaborators (including everyone from Ray Winstone to Kylie Minogue) and perhaps most revealingly his psychoanalyst, with whom he dips into his distant past. The directors, visual artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, have a long-standing relationship with their subject, lifting this well above most typical musician films. A real treat for lovers of the creative spark, it manages to both embrace and protect Cave's mystery, with more than a couple of belly laughs along the way.
'Incredible. Puts most music films to shame. So inventive and inspiring.' Time Out
