Maps To The Stars

David Cronenberg makes a stunning return to form to take a tour into the darkly comic heart of a Hollywood family chasing celebrity, one another, and the relentless ghosts of their pasts. This fiendish and fiercely intelligent satire of the movie business lines up its grotesques - including Julianne Moore's desperate, fat-lipped fading actress, Robert Pattinson's limo driver-cum-wannabe screenwriter, Mia Wasikowska's mysterious scarred pyromaniac and John Cusack's self help guru - until you soon begin to realise the exact nature of the join-the-dots pictures that are being revealed. The Telegraph critic's instant reaction, after stumbling, open mouthed, from the cinema, "was a pathological need to stumble back in again". We can't give away too much but suffice to say this is a brilliant nightmare of the film that is Cronenberg's strangest, most deliciously odd film yet - and given his CV, that's certainly saying something.
