A special event with the acclaimed novelist David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas, Black Swan Green and The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet). Mitchell discusses his Booker Prize long-listed new book The Bone Clocks, a metaphysical thriller, meditation on mortality and chronicle of our self-devouring times that crackles with his customary wit and invention.

Speaker biography:

David Mitchell taught English in Japan where he wrote his first novel, Ghostwritten. Published in 1999, Ghostwritten won the Mail on Sunday John Llewellyn Rhys Prize and was shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award. His second novel, number9dream, was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and in 2003 he was named one of Granta's Best Young British Novelists. His third, Cloud Atlas, was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2004, won the Richard & Judy Best Read of the Year and was made into a film in 2012. It was followed by Black Swan Green and The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, both longlisted for the Man Booker Prize. The Bone Clocks is on this year's longlist.
