Bill Murray teams up with long-term collaborator, kooky to the core director Wes Anderson in this fantastical high-seas action adventure. Murray stars as world-renowned oceanographer Steve Zissou, who assembles an eclectic crew in an attempt to capture and kill a huge mythical shark that devoured his beloved diving partner. Joining him aboard is a superb ensemble cast including Anjelica Huston, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Michael Gambon, Cate Blanchett and Owen Wilson.

Occupying nearly every frame, Bill Murray’s quiet, downcast presence modulates Anderson’s surreal, idiosyncratic busyness that encircles his character, and his performance is a triumph of comic minimalism. Turning tiny gestures and sly, off-beat line readings into a deadpan tour-de-force, Murray is at his best here – at once utterly ridiculous and curiously touching.
