Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in April 2015

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

In this weeks talk Simon Kampa, CEO of Senseye - a developer of complex condition monitoring systems- explores how, in the age of the Internet of Things, you best represent vast amounts of interrelated and complex data without overwhelming the end users.

Senseye, born at the end of 2014, is creating a predictable Internet of Assets™ for everyone. The Internet of Things is producing a wave of sensor data that is growing exponentially each year. More and more machines and components are being produced with sensors already installed – Senseye calls them smart assets. New markets are being shaped and old ones turned upside down. Senseye will exploit this shift to deliver meaningful insights that don’t require deep pockets, IT departments, or time searching for what you actually want. The product will be measured on how little people will use it.

Coming from a background in the aerospace and defence sectors where complex condition monitoring systems are able to accurately predict engine performance, component wear rates, safety failures and optimisation opportunities, Senseye wants want to bring this concept to the broader market. The aim is for small manufacturers to have more reliable production lines. Farmers will be able to predict yields, use less water and fertiliser and detect the onset of infestations. Solar farm operators should be able to tell their financiers accurate revenue forecasts and for performance to be more accurately understood.

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to admin@pmstudio.co.uk
