Athina Rachel Tsangari follows Attenberg with a biting and strange dissection of the male ego, featuring six super-competitive men on a boat who all take part in an increasingly absurdist game.
During a holiday on a luxury yacht, a group of men decide to pass the time be engaging in a game to determine which of them is the "Best in General" by assessing each other's performances with a series of tests of manhood. Inevitably, as they submit to the challenges - best sleeping posture, best silver-polishers, largest morning erection, best IKEA assembly - rivalries and insecurities emerge, allegiances shift, tempers fray, and all good sportsmanship goes well and truly out the window and it's only a matter of time until the knives come out.
Winner of Best Film at the London Film Festival, Chevalier is a funny, perfectly pitched satire that puts masculinity under a microscope (you won't be surprised that it is co-written by the writer of Bristol smash The Lobster). Enjoy!
