What is it about filmmakers that make them want to frighten us? Certainly, this year there were enough quality spine chills and thrills in the thousands of submissions our programmers received to justify creating this collection. This late night programme of tricks and treats will get into your subconscious, and lay seeds. Take the world premiere of Polish director Marcin Pazera’s Moloch which exemplifies the symbiosis between the factory and man. Or Sundance Jury Prize winner BugCrush from America’s Carter Smith which deals with trying to fit in at a suburban high school. The Netherlands’ Rosto whips us a spinning nightmare in Jona Tomberry, whilst in Temerario Carl Zitelmann takes us through cowboy’s last few moments of life using vividly stark animation.
