Resfest: Videos that Rock (15)
Please note: this is an old screening, first shown in Oct 2006
Sometimes, as was once memorably said, 'Mars Needs Guitars'. And with a little help from the new wave of electro clash and mod-prog artists storming the charts, the axe wielders are charging the charts once more. Don’t expect traditional performance videos here, but do expect a couple of radical retakes on them. A good example is the why-didn’t-someone-think-of-this-before ingenuity of the hilarious, one shot choreographed treadmill dance routine from LA musician / auteurs Ok Go in Here It Goes Again. And song-of-the-summer Hot Chip’s Over and Over, from Nima Nourizadeh, also turns stand and deliver videos inside out. Stylistically, the programme is a most eclectic mash of new styles and techniques, ranging from stop motion animation to moving projections to. Mogwai’s Travel is Dangerous by perennial RESFEST contributor Monkmus is a beautiful animation. The Knife’s Marble House by local hero Chris Hopewell is a masterful slice of stop motion day in the life of a family of mice.
Please note: The advertised times are the actual starting times of each programme for all RESFEST screenings.
