Random Function is a 'laptop jam night' – it isn't intended to be a 'programmed' event, but rather a flexible, open forum to showcase experimental sound work in the Bristol and Bath area, and to bring like-minded people together. It grew out of the well respected MA in Creative Music Technology run by Dr Joseph Hyde at Bath Spa University, and is open to all. Bywords are improvisation, collaboration and community. The first Random Function took place in October '03 as part of RESFEST, the international digital film festival, and has become a regular monthly event.
