Simple Things is a multi-venue festival of music, discussion and art taking place in Bristol from 17- 23 Oct, using a mixture of established gig spaces and DIY venues to present a breadth of musical diversity in a truly unique configuration. A new addition to this year's programme is Simple Things EXT - a series of discussions, installations and one-off performances supported by Arts Council England in the week preceding the main festival. As part of EXT Simple Things have partnered with Watershed to host a series of free panel discussions exploring key issues and experiences within the contemporary musical landscape.

How can musical activity support itself financially in a digital era?

But, with club culture's prolific current status, how much has it been stripped of its radical roots, and have we lost the essence of club culture? Examining the role of collectives and networks who appreciate the political power of the dancefloor, we meet individuals creating inclusive spaces as forces for social change.
