Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in Oct 2016

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

Studio residents Owen Davies and Joe Blakeston are experienced video game developers who have left behind the world of zombies and disgruntled birds to embark on a collaboration with local fine artist Tom Mead. By placing the artist at the centre of the creative process they hope to explore new practice for artists and games developers.

They recently demoed an early prototype of their game, ‘Foramina’, at EGX, one of Britain's biggest game’s conferences. It was selected to appear in the Leftfield Collection, which is renowned for discovering innovative and genre-defining games.

Now back in the studio, Owen and Joe are taking time out to reflect on their process, assess the results and to share what they have learned so far (SPOILER: it's not what they expected!). Come and join them to find out more, try out the game and to help them decide where to go next.

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to studio@watershed.co.uk
