In this roaming, radiant rock ‘n' roll romance of the kind that only Terrence Malick could make, two entangled couples — struggling songwriters Faye and BV (Mara and Gosling), and manipulative music mogul Cook (Fassbender) and waitress Rhonda (Portman, whom he ensnares) — chase success through a landscape of seduction and betrayal.
