In Victorian-era London, an intrepid police inspector investigates a series of brutal killings that seem to be linked to a fearsome creature of Jewish legend in this atmospheric thriller based on the bestseller by Peter Ackroyd.

It's 1880 in London's notoriously seedly Limehouse district, where a series of gruesome murders have spooked the locals so much they begin to suspect the killer must be a supernatural 'golem'. Scotland Yard detective Kildare (Bill Nighy, who replaced Alan Rickman after his death last year) is brought in to investigate, leading him to suspects including Karl Marx and novelist George Gissing, as well as that of music-hall performer Lizzie (Olivia Cooke). Can he stop the murders and bring the culprit to justice?

A refreshingly feminist take on Dickensian-era thrillers that is filled with murder, mayhem, and mystery.
