The biggest killer for men between 18-45 is suicide, but why are so many men struggling with their mental health and what can we do to help?

In a collaboration with Man Up Man Down and Bristol Festival of Ideas, Freedom of Mind will be discussing how we can all make space for men to talk and open up about their emotional well being. Through audience contribution and guest speakers we'll be exploring why is it so important for men to talk openly about their mental health? How can men create their own space to talk, and how can we help the men in our lives cope with life's pressures?

Speakers include:

Solomon O.B

Recently crowned Hammer & Tongue National Poetry slam champion, Solomon is a Musician, Emcee, and Spoken Word artist now residing in Bristol. He has featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra, The Guardian online as well as recently being a guest speaker at the Telegraph Festival of Education.

His inner world was very far from perfect. In 2003 he began a journey to discover the causes of his unhappiness and learn some tools for healing himself. After many years of study he began to teach others what he had learnt. Since 2009 Mark has been teaching Positive Meditation in Bristol. His Mindfulness and Positivity classes and one on one sessions take place at various venues across Bristol. For more information please visit www.positivemeditation.com.

Billy Britton

An up and coming spoken word artist, born and bred in Bristol, who recently performed to a packed stage at The Downs festival. He aims to provide insight into his life and the views on the world he has grown up in.
