Hong Sangsoo: Between Men and Women

Hong Sangsoo's masterful storytelling and painfully acute, witty deconstructions of human relationships have earned him much critical acclaim. Despite his status as one of the finest auteurs in contemporary Korean cinema his work is notoriously (and shamefully) difficult to find in the UK, so this ICO retrospective is long overdue. It's timely, too: Sangsoo picked up the Jury prize at Cannes this year.

His playful, powerful meditations on men and women are universally familiar: there are uncomfortable arguments, drunken confessions and cringy sexual encounters galore all in the pursuit of meaningful connections. Come and experience for yourself his original, intimate and honest filmmaking.
